When a baby is conceived, it isn’t long until you begin to feel signs of life.
Elisabeth had been pregnant for almost 6 months, and she was worried, because she had never felt the baby move.
When you have life, you move.
When a church has life, it is not sitting still.
Said, “I’m just a little worried,” because she’d had no life yet. You know the baby, as far as she knew, was dead.
The little John must’ve been dead in his mother’s womb. And she’d felt no life as yet. And she was kinda worried. 51-1003 - "Believest Thou This?"
Life is constantly pushing the boundaries, finding a way. It is detectable in movement. (sleeping)
Now when the water breaks, you don’t have to do very much about it. And when the blood comes, you don’t have to do much about it.
But, in order to get life in the baby, you’ve got to give him a spanking, and make him yell out. 65-0124 - "Birth Pains"
54 Now, you take a little, some kind of a shock. Maybe, wouldn’t have to spank him, but just shock him a little.
The very idea of him being born, sometimes, will do it. Grab him, shake him.
He don’t start breathing, spank him a little, and then he yells out, in unknown tongues, to himself, I guess. But, he, anyhow, and he’s making a noise.
55 And I think if a baby is born just by stillbirth, with no sound, no emotion, that’s a dead baby.

Hearing the Name of Jesus for the first time on human lips was the shock that brought John to life.
270 And just as soon as she said, “Jesus,” the first time that the Name of Jesus Christ was ever spoke through a human lip, the little dead baby in its mother’s womb received the Holy Ghost and begin to jump for joy, in the womb of a mother.

The body of a baby is made up of different parts, so is the body of the church. You expect to see or feel different movements in different parts of the body. (Hands, eyes, etc.)
You could be dead and move, but your movements wouldn’t be directed by the head. (Chickens)
119 And we got the same thing. We stay with the Word, we live. “Man shall live by every Word.” But if we don’t, we die, we spiritually die.
Oh, we can still make noise, sure, kick around, and holler and carry on, but, that, that ain’t living. That isn’t living. 64-1212 - "The Harvest Time"
Something that makes no movement is dead. Period. (Priest with Bell and Pomegranate)
35 I can prove, anything that hasn’t got emotion in it is dead. So if your religion ain’t got a little emotion in it, you’d better bury it, and get something. You have to have emotion to be alive. 63-0607 - "Be Not Afraid"
Signs of Life in the Pulpit
Let’s begin to look for signs of life in the pulpit.
What do we expect from our preachers? Are they to be intellectual teachers?
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Every denomination has these seminaries, hatch out a bunch of incubator preachers. I always felt sorry for an incubator chicken, it had no mammy; no matter how much it chirped, wasn’t mothered.
That’s the way these machines turn out clergymen, sometimes knows no more about God than a Hottentot does about Egyptian night, or a rabbit know how to put on snowshoes.
47 What we need is an experienced preacher that’s been on the backside of the desert, till he stayed in that place under God until the Pillar of Fire come down before him like It did Moses, and nobody can take that from him. 64-0410 - "Scriptural Signs Of The Time"
54 What we need is an old-fashioned, God-sent, scalding religion that will scald that worldliness out of the church.
We need to come back to the Holy Ghost and Fire, back to the thing that burns out the dross, brings the old-fashioned preaching back, make Heaven high, and hell hot, gun-barrel straight.
We need that kind of a preaching. But you do it today, your congregation will vote you out.
55 Sometimes good preachers are led astray by their congregation. That’s the reason I have no denomination. I have one headquarters, that’s from Heaven.

God wants men, godly men, men that can shake!
175 But today we want Hollywood. We want something that’s desirable to the eye. We want something that can speak so intellectually that he can let us sleep for five minutes while he…on Sunday morning.

2. Signs of Life at the Altar
Malachi 1:6–14 (KJV 1900)
A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: If then I be a father, where is mine honour? And if I be a master, where is my fear? Saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?
Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; And ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible.
Lexham Theological Wordbook בָּזָה
(bāzâ). vb. to despise. To regard someone or something with contempt or as worthless.
This verb indicates considering something as worthless; in the OT it is usually used in passages about people treating valuable things in a worthless manner. Esau despised (bāzâ) his birthright and thus gave it up for a mere meal (Gen 25:34). When people intentionally sin and do evil, they despise (bāzâ) the Word of Yahweh (Num 15:31; 2 Sam 12:9). In Isaiah’s prophecy, the Servant of Yahweh is viewed as worthless (bāzâ) by humans (Isa 53:3).
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it now unto thy governor; Will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts.
And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: This hath been by your means: Will he regard your persons? saith the Lord of hosts.
Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? Neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts, Neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same My name shall be great among the Gentiles; And in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: For my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the Lord of hosts.
But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the Lord is polluted; And the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.
Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! And ye have snuffed at it, saith the Lord of hosts; And ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; Thus ye brought an offering: Should I accept this of your hand? saith the Lord.
But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, And voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing: For I am a great King, saith the Lord of hosts, And my name is dreadful among the heathen.
God wants your best at the altar.
75 And we’ve gone off without the old-time prayer meetings and the baptism of the Holy Ghost coming back, until the fire has burnt low.
You can cry out, and try to get people to the altar, and they just walk up like they were almost dead, a dread to come.
And then ask ministers to come pray with them, “Oh, why did he ask me for?” And they get down there, and you can’t hardly get them.
And they’ll stand there just for a few minutes, look up at you, and go back and sit down in their seats. To me, the fire has gone out!
Something has happened. Listen! What we need is a revival, that sinners, looking upon Christ, repent, run to the altar with their hands up, screaming for mercy, and the whole church is a flame of fire, with the glory of God. 64-0307 - "A Testimony On The Sea"
I’ve went to places, even, and people who is supposed to be Spirit-filled people, and see altar calls made, and, why, you couldn’t get people to go in with anybody, to pray with them.
See, that shows it’s Ichabod, “the Spirit of the Lord has departed.” See? But when you see that zeal and Fire and longing, and long for human souls! 64-0404 - "Jehovah-Jireh #3"
Bro. Branham saw this in his vision about the tent. They were begging for money instead of souls.
102 And I had just made a altar call, seeming like, down at the altar. And when I was down there, I looked, and there was hundreds of people standing around the altar, weeping, because they had accepted the Lord Jesus.
And they were just weeping, out loud. And I said, “Oh, that’s more like it, like that.” 56-0408A - "What Is A Vision?"
55 Come with a determination. Come that you’re going to stay there till it’s over. Stay there till God answers and vindicates.
A man that believes in God, can see the Presence of God, feel the Presence of God, sense the Presence of God, and know He’s here.
He is here to answer everything that He made promise for in this day. Then, cry till you get it! Hold onto Him. Don’t leave, if you have to stay day and night.
God don’t want His children to listen to intellectual speeches. He wants them to cry out to It, till the promise is vindicated. 64-0206E - "God's Provided Way For This Day"
3. Signs of Life in the Pew
Spiritually alive people worship. No revival is Word only.
But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the Lord your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
Then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the Lord:
And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
Spiritually alive people respond to the Word.
And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: Praise him in the firmament of his power.
Praise him for his mighty acts: Praise him according to his excellent greatness.
Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Praise him with the timbrel and dance: Praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Praise him upon the loud cymbals: Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
New Testament
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

4. Signs of Life at the Fellowship Hall
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
61 Then, the first thing you know, when you started doing those things, you let down the bars, you begin compromising, then the church begin to get little clucks, cliques in among them, and this one said, “You know, the pastor’s just so-and-so,” or “the deacon’s so-and-so.”
And, the first thing you know, you listened to that! And that’s the reason we’ve had so much trouble, is because you’ve begin to listen to the devil, and get a snarl instead of listening to the gentle Dove, the Holy Spirit, the Dove of God that would lead you and guide you, love you and bless you.

The pleasure of a Christian is serving the Lord at the house of God. You don’t have to sign no cards; you can’t open the door quick enough.
And if the members of the church love one another enough instead of put a little cliques and pulling away from the church…
Brother, if you love one another so much that you just—hurts your heart till you got together again, that’s the way it should be.
36 Oh God, if we have to take every miracle out of the church, if we have to take all the pipe organs out, and the plush pews, give us back to that godly love, brotherly love among the people and fellowship. A young lady walked into a fabric shop, went to the counter, and asked the owner for some noisy, rustling, white material. The owner found two such bolts of fabric but was rather puzzled at the young lady’s motives. Why would anyone want several yards of noisy material? Finally the owner’s curiosity got the best of him and he asked the young lady why she particularly wanted noisy cloth.
She answered: “You see, I am making a wedding gown, and my fiancé is blind. When I walk down the aisle, I want him to know when I’ve arrived at the altar, so he won’t be embarrassed.”
Let me live so a blind world knows who I am. As Russia shows signs of life, and the Catholic church shows signs of who they are, may there be signs of life in me.
